History
The company Bergophor was founded in 1947 by Dr. Dr. Werner Berger and his wife Marga Berger as Bergophor Futtermittelfabrik, Dr. Berger GmbH & Co. KG.
The company developed from a small business with rented space into a group of companies with 350 employees, a second production site, worldwide trading relations and pioneering joint ventures.
In 1980, the Bergophor company first appeared on an international level as a producer and supplier of mineral feed. Since then, export activities have been part of the marketing concept and the development has been very positive.
A joint venture entered into with VEB Mineralstoffgemische Hohburg at the beginning of 1990 developed so positively that as of January 1, 1991, in the course of privatization, this company was taken over by the Treuhand-Anstalt, as HOHBURG Mineralfutter GmbH. In 2021, a new production facility with pioneering technology was put into operation here.
Due to the death of the sole owner, Ms. Camilla Berger, in autumn 2022, it became necessary to reorganize the corporate and organizational structures of Bergophor Futtermittelfabrik, Dr. Berger GmbH & Co. KG.
With effect from July 1, 2024, the company was renamed Bergophor GmbH. HOHBURG Mineralfutter GmbH was merged with Bergophor GmbH. We produce our high-quality products at both locations, Kulmbach and Hohburg.
Philosophy
For 80 years, Bergophor has been connecting best practice and future oriented creativity on highest quality standard.
The objective: modern, long-term concepts for successful animal nutrition, which yield more than they cost.
In the beginning of a successful feeding concept, there are research and development. Active ingredients, biologically given facts and safety aspects have to collude perfectly, to meet highest demands on product quality.
To assure product safety on highest standard, we undergo several recurring tests to yield our quality labels and certificates. Besides an all-over documentation of all production processes our in-house quality management also contributes to consistent high quality of our products. Our products are tested both in-house and by independent laboratories.
Of course, Bergophor also offers different mineral feed suitable for ecologic/biologic production according to regulations (EG) Nr. 834/2007 und (EG) Nr. 889/2008. You can recognize them by the ending OLB in the product name.
Leotsakos Animal Nutrition Ι.Κ.Ε. is the exclusive representative of Bergophor in the Greek and Cypriot market since 2025.
